Photo series, tablet computer, 2022− on going.

The work The Land of Gardeners focuses on the concepts of garden-keeping and self-sufficiency, emphasising the loving relationship we as humans have with the space in which we live. Tending a garden or cultivating an allotment is a Slovenian speciality and tradition, the love and knowledge of gardening are passed down from generation to generation. As many as two-thirds of the population have their own garden, which puts the Slovenians at the top of the list in terms of the number of gardens in Europe. Already with the first economic crisis of this century (2008), gardening gained social importance, and also in terms of the climate, gardening is seen as one of the means that can contribute to the mitigation of climate change.

The artist took photos of Slovenian gardens using Google Street View. On a virtual journey through the streets of Slovenia, she found and photographed hundreds of different Slovenian gardens (urban, rural, legal, illegal, private, communal, small, large, vegetable, herb, flower). A tablet computer with a list of garden locations is part of the project, allowing visitors to access Google Maps and add new locations to the list.
