Arrt Installation, 2022.

The installation Beyond the Great Filter addresses global warming and climate change, focusing on the reality of contemporary society, which, with the dangers it produces itself, creates emergencies that can have irreversible consequences. Without action at all levels, the temperature is expected to rise by three degrees Celsius and sea levels by almost one metre by the end of this century, with irreversible and catastrophic conditions for humans and nature already occurring at global warming of two degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels. The starting point of the installation, which raises apocalyptic horizons and poses the question of what will happen if limits go their own unstoppable way unchecked, is the Slovenian folk tale The Kurent and the Flood, which tells of the destruction of the world, of Kurent and Kranjec, and a new beginning when the latter plants vine and buckwheat. The installation consists of more than a thousand seed balls made of clay, compost and buckwheat seeds, a wicker basket made of vines and sculptures made of buckwheat husks and sawdust. The seed balls are intended for the visitors.
