Sculpture, 2018.

Inkey is a large soft sculpture of an octopus, sewn from the artist's bedding and pillow stuffing. The work was created as a result of the artist's fascination with the fact, that the octopus is present as the ultimate erotic symbol in Japan's culture, art, mythology, and commercial pornography.

In Japanese pornography, one can often find scenes of mighty octopuses, who in the role of the dominant ubiquitous phallus, hug and penetrate defenceless girls with their moist extensions. Japan's heavily developed pornography industry is, to the surprise of many, strictly censured as it restricts any public display of the genitals. The Penal Code of Japan has been protecting Japanese citizens from obscenity, which in practice means that genitals should also be blurred in commercial pornography. Many Japanese manufacturers of erotic toys and pornographic content, therefore, often avoid censorship by replacing the man and his penis with an octopus or its tentacles in their products.
